When you make a home in the mountains amongst the trees, no doubt you inadvertently build over the homes of some more long term forest dwellers.  I have watched this summer with interest birds making their nests under the eves, deer coming close to the house to forage, and our favorite the fox basking in the afternoon sun on the flat roof.
